Colorado is truly a western state — complete with a spirit of innovation and independence. True to this model, Colorado is a ballot initiative state. This essentially means that not only do eligible voters elect representatives to make policy decisions, they also sometimes directly vote on public policy.
This direct democracy component of Colorado’s civic structure is unique, and voters and potential voters need to know the important decision-making role they play in building and maintaining thriving communities. The power of direct democracy is undermined if not all voters participate. This is where Count Me In! comes in.
Count Me In! is a robust civic engagement effort that reaches into communities across the state through trusted community members to educate voters and potential voters on the issues they will see on their ballots. Count Me In is a collaborative effort among non profit groups who focus on equity, economic justice, and public finance. The primary focus will be to encourage voting the whole ballot, all the way to the bottom!
Count Me In! empowers voters by giving them the confidence to fully participate in the election by voting on every ballot measure.
