The content of training 3 focuses on how to authentically engage diverse members of the community in collaborative process. Core concepts include an exploration of power, using Eric Liu's basic framing but looked at through the continuum of "instrumental rationality (transactional)" vs. "communicative rationality (transformational)" that we explored in meeting 2. Notions of power were then applied to the conditions of high quality process (fairness, equality, goal-orientation, and authenticity) to explore ways in which we can positively influence those conditions despite power imbalances that threaten them.
