Across the early childhood landscape, collaborative leadership is required to promote access, quality, and equity for all young children and families. We know from a variety of leadership theorists including Margaret Wheatley, Peter Senge, and Otto Scharmer that the complex social issues of our time require us to “define a leader as anyone who wants to help, who is willing to step forward to create change in their world” (Wheatley, 2007, p. 292). This session invites early childhood practitioners working in a variety of roles across the field to engage in an interactive world cafe to explore how they and others can lead from every chair. Buell Early Childhood Leadership Network (BECLN) alumni will utilize the World Cafe protocol engaging participants in reflection, discussion, and small-group practice to explore leaning into leadership.
